As mentioned on my posts about Liver Flush Protocol, you must cleanse your bowel before liver flushing so that the flush is more effective. You can use herbal cleanses, but psyllium husk and bentonite clay shakes (P & B Shakes) are also effective.
To Prepare a Psyllium and Bentonite Shake you just need 6 ingredients;
- 8 oz of bottled water
- 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon of activated charcoal powder
- 1 tablespoon of psyllium husk powder
- 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
Method;
- Put all ingredients except liquid into a glass jar.
- Add a little of the bottled water and stir ingredients till all lumps are gone.
- Add the rest of the water and lemon juice and put on lid.
- Shake until it is all mixed
- Drink immediately Otherwise it will gel up and you will not be able to drink it!
Please note; Always drink this shake at least 1 hour away from food. For example 1st thing in the morning or last thing at night..
Also drink at least 8 cups of water during the day. 2 on rising, 2 after breakfast, 2 after lunch and 2 after dinner.
About the Ingredients;
Bentonite Clay
Absorbs toxins and allows them to be taken out of the body harmlessly.
At the same time, bentonite clay releases minerals into the body making it stronger. The clay is specifically used for internal use and is known to be an effective detoxifier.
Chia seeds
Have essential fatty acids useful to the body When mixed with liquid, they form a mucilage or gel so need to be drunk immediately before this happens.
Activated Charcoal powder
Is a substance created from coconut shells. It is not to be confused with what you use to fuel your barbecue! Activated charcoal helps rid the body of unwanted toxins and also reduces flatulence.
Psyllium Husk Powder
Is a well known ingredient in herbal bowel cleansers. It also helps form a mucilage. And the fibre from the powder helps to gently sweep stool and mucoid plaque through your colon.
Lemon Juice
Is used to give taste to the P & B Shake
Water is used to mix all ingredients together and makes it easier for you to drink the whole mixture.
Here is a Youtube video demonstrating how to make the P & B Shake. Enjoy!
As you can see in the video, the lady talks about mucoid plaque. This is a layer of stool residue that has lined your colon over the years. If you are constipated frequently, or only go to the toilet once in 3 days, you have a lot of mucoid plaque and fecal matter in your colon.
The toxins within it can circulate in your bloodstream. P & B Shakes are a cost effective way to gently release this out of your body before more complications set in.
You will find if you have facial eczema, your skin will gradually clear up when you make these shakes every day. Facial eczema is a clear sign your stomach is constipated. A bowel cleanse makes all the difference!
You can buy most of these ingredients at your local dedicated health food shop. Bentonite clay is normally sold online. Make sure it is for internal use.
If you have any comments or questions, please let me know in the comment section.
What an interesting article you’ve written! I say that because I truly popped into it after a search looking for healthy Peanut Butter shakes lol. That’s a whole different kind of P&B! But I think it’s a credit to your writing that I stuck around and became completely immersed in this article! So much so I’ve started to dive deeper into researching it! Great post! Bookmarked!
Hi Eric,
I like to keep them short and sweet otherwise people find it too much to read. I don’t want to sound as if I am a science graduate which I am not!
Thanks for bookmarking this article.
I love a good cleansing product. My only concern with this is the taste. I have a pretty huge gag reflex. Does this taste super terrible, or what is the flavor like. How long would I do this cleanse for? The ingredients all seem like they would be very beneficial. I’d like to give it a try. But before I go and buy all the ingredients, I guess I just need to figure out if I can drink it or not. Also, how often can you do this cleanse?
Hi,
It only tastes of lemon juice. If you watch the video at the bottom of the post, the lady says for 3 months at a time, bowel cleansing should be done. Remember, you have years of accumulated mucoid plaque from the age of 5.
Even eating a clean diet does not get rid of mucoid plaque. You need to do a cleanse at least twice yearly. This basically keeps your pipes in good working order and you will definitely suffer less from allergies as well.
To Your Health,
Stella
Having very little experience with the Liver Flush Protocol, I found your post rather interesting. As I read through it, I realized that there are things that I’d never seriously taken into account; health monitoring is probably one of them, but as time goes by (one way of saying as I get older), I realize now that the sooner I start paying attention, the better off things will turn out. Thanks for the information you present.
This is one item to keep referring back to.
Yes Hugo,
We all definitely need to pay attention to how we treat our body. It is the only one we have and if we are to live a good and healthy age, bowel cleansing will keep us fit.
To Your Health,
Stella
Having had a significant health problem before, I appreciate the importance of bowel cleansing. Your article is very helpful in showing what to do and how to do it. I also know from experience, though, that it’s hard to do certain things like this when family and work responsibilities take a lot of time. If someone can’t do this every day, do you think it’s helpful occasionally? Or does the benefit increase with the frequency?
Hi Danette,
All of us have some degree of mucoid plaque in our colon. This needs to be done at least every day for 3 months first thing in the morning before breakfast.
If my Mum, who is almost 80, can do it anyone can! So remember your colon or bowel is important to your health. You will then have more energy to do Life!
I can not believe I ran across your article this evening. Just today my daughter was sharing with me problems she’s been experiencing with her bowels, for at least 2 months. I’ll spare you the details, but I will be sharing this article with her, that is for sure.
Thank you for the video, I found it to be very informative and helpful,Laura
Hi Laura,
I hope your daughter gets better soon. Let me know how she gets on after doing this bowel cleanse. Drinking plenty of water while cleansing is very important. That doesn’t include coffee!
We know that bowel cleansing is important especially before any medical procedure. Some people want to clean their bowel because they believe that the process will rid their colons of excess toxins that have accumulated over time from the food, air, water and the lifestyle but doing this with shakes you shared, is a great natural way to clean and stay healthy. Thanks for sharing.
Well said Bushra, well said!
I have a friend who is a doctor and he gave me a water based colon cleanse with tubes etc being pushed into me, etc!
It was one of the worst things I have ever done, and worst still was I did it 6 times over about 2 weeks.
Never again!
I felt amazing afterwards but it was a horrible experience.
Your system, looks much more user friendly and without me having to lose my dignity!
I live in Asia so I will check to see if I can get all the ingredients where I am and will give it a try.
If it tastes of lemon I can deal with that!
Tim
Hi Tim,
It sounds like you had a colonic irrigation done by your friend. I have only had those done 3 times. At £70 each!
You will pay much less for a P&B Shake. The ingredients last at least 2 months if used daily.
To Your Health!
Thank you for this amazing post, All your contents are always straight to the point and simple to comprehend, I must categorically state this, I like the herbal method of bowel cleansing because it is natural, the P&B shakes is also a good method, the ingredients are easily obtainaible and it has little or no side effects.
Hi Clement,
Thanks for complimenting on my style of writing. The simpler the better don’t you think? Then everyone can understand what I am saying.
And yes, P&B Shakes are natural.
Hello and thank you Stella for this informative article. I am really stunned by the postive effects of Bentonite Clay. For starters I never knew it can be consumed by humans. Psyllium Husk is something I am familiar with, since I used it when making my herbal teas.
I am definitely going to make one for myself, since detoxicating is always a good thing. I do not have any medical issues thank God.
Can this shake be drinked without lemon juice? I mean how does the shake tastes without lemon juice and do you think average person could “survived” it?
Thank you.
Strahinja.
Hi Strahinja,
I have tasted the shake without lemon juice. It just tastes plainly of water!
Have fun making it and make sure you buy bentonite clay for internal use.
To Your Health!
Dear Stella,
This is an interesting article and enjoyed reading it. You not only addressed the problem but you have provided the solution that too with clear step by step method. The video you embedded is very helpful and thanks for the informative post.
Cleaning the bowels with this natural method is amazing. I now realized the importance of bowel cleaning and to be honest never ever thought about this before after reading your post I got great insights.
I am going to share your post with few of my friends.
Wishing you great Success!
Paul
I am really pleased you enjoyed this Paul,
To be fit we definitely do need to detox and clear out our systems at least twice yearly.
Thanks for sharing this article!
I already heard about some cleansing mix and this one seems very helpful. Like the lady in the video said, it is important that beside, we have to eat good food because otherwise it will not help and we will see no change.
I think thats the secret. Food awareness and detox sometime to have a healthy bowel. Healthy digestive system mean body health, more energy, more focus more and more.
Thank you for that recipe, I will give it a try for sure.
Mathieu
Hi Mathieu,
I am real pleased you liked the article and video. We live to learn!
Hello Stella,
When I first brought up your page and seen the heading on bowel cleansing I thought wow she is bold. lol no disrespect, it was the first thought that came to mind. I loved the theme of your website and your content was amazing, you stated in your ” about Stella” that you aren’t a doctor, well girlfriend you could have fooled me!!
The opportunity to comment on your website was right on time!! My niece has eczema pretty bad and we have tried the norm but you have so many different remedies we never heard of, that we are in the process of trying one of them as we speak; the bath remedy, dead Sea salt and epsom.
I found your website 100% informational and well put together. I did notice that on your side menu that one of your headings was left as uncategorized and it had content in it pertaining to your infantile post, which happens to be the last page of your main menu.
Overall I really appreciated the reading, and the fact that you have tried everything you wrote about is much more promising and we definitely will checking a few of them out. AWESOME SAUCE!!
Hi Virginia,
Thanks for such a detailed comment. My heart goes out to your niece though. I do tell most of my friends who have children with eczema to cut out sugary and floury food and drinks. Which is almost everything.
Just replace with natural food and homemade food at that until she is clear.
You did not state if her eczema was wet or dry. It looks like I will have to write a post explaining the differences and what methods are better suited to which form of eczema.
That will make it easier to choose the right method.
To Your Family Health!
Something new to me, especially the fact I initially thought charcoal powder was the same you used for grilling, so thanks for clearing that up. In today’s world of being exposed to toxins almost 24/7-literally-it’s a great way to detoxify your body which in turn plays to better health and wellness.
Indeed it is Todd!
I remember years ago I bought something to do a bowel cleansing and it really felt good. People don’t think about it but it’s amazing the quantity of the garbage that we keep inside. I did not know you could actually do one at home. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe in your post I will definitely do it, I know I need it badly!
Good for you Barbara…
I am sure you will feel much better for it.
I’ve been looking for a good alternative to cleansing that doesn’t involve pills, because up to now that’s all I’ve ever used to achieve a cleansing goal…
Using P&B Shakes sound like a healthier way to achieve the same goal though… does that seem correct?
Something else I learned in this article was that I didn’t know you were supposed to do this before doing a liver cleanse!
I really appreciate you sharing the exact ingredient so I can duplicate it, and I definitely plan to try this out especially if it’s a better option than pills health wise.
Yes, when Cleanse Smart went off the market, I turned to Youtube for an alternative…
It is very safe and even my Mum who is in her 70s uses it.
She has also done a further Liver Flush as she experienced pain on her left side in 2018. She feels much better afterwards and the pain is gone.
It is cheap as you have noticed and is easy to make.
This is a very interesting article. I had no idea that you could actually build a cleanse yourself. I have bought cleanses from the health food store, but wondered what was in them and if they work. This recipe doesn’t sound very expensive and at least I know what is in this cleanse. I am going to try this and after reading the other comments I am happy to hear that the taste is mostly lemon juice because it does look a little daunting.
I certainly agree that over the years it would make sense that we all have mucoid plaque to get rid of. I am 67 so 62 years worth of mucoid plaque would impact my ability to take in the nutrients from my food.
One questions I have is: Would this also aid in weight loss?
No, you are only losing mucoid plaque, not fat or muscle…Although your tummy may get slightly flatter.
It will also take several months for that lot to be cleared from your colon…
I have always tried to eat healthy, not to say I do not cheat, but after cheating I always feel worse and end up regretting it. This bowel cleansing is a good way to keep everything moving and staying healthy.
When I was in my twenties I would religiously do a 3-day cleanse every month. I have slacked on my monthly cleansing and need to get my body in a healthier state and this might be a good way to start over again and start on a healthier living path.
Brilliant Myrna…I’m glad to inspire you.
This is so much better of an option compared to taking supplements or medications in every way.
Interesting article you have provided up here concerning bowel cleansing with p and B shakes. To be honest, I love the natural feel of the various ingredients made available for this and the fact that it’s a Do it Yourself stuff.
It makes it much more exciting to try out and makes it more secure. I will surely try this out.
Dear Ro,
This article has been a pleasure to write, but I must emphasise this – Follow The Instructions To The Letter for best results.
Tell me how you get on as I would like to know the results of your cleanse and how you felt afterwards.
All the best,
Stella
Hi, your post on bowel cleansing is very helpful and educating. Any post that relate to health I don’t play with it, your post came at the right time because a friend asked me about your topic but now I can help my friend because I have learnt from your post.
For future reference I am bookmarking your website for more free information about health. Thanks – this information is helpful.
It’s a pleasure…
Well, I never knew about products like this or the importance of getting to cleanse my bowels.
I think I need to search for the post on liver flushing to get everything altogether. Anyway, the product for making the pb shakes are all something we see everyday and the method for making them is not so tasking.
I hope this shake won’t have too bad a taste. It’s good to know that one needs to eat good food to grant full effectiveness. Educative post, thanks.
I gleaned the recipe from Curezone.org a non-profit site. It is an old site with a ton of useful information. Besides that, I have over 20 books on various aspects of nutrition and found Bernard Jensen’s book called “Dr Jensen’s Guide to Better Bowel Care”, a real game changer for me.
Several of my friends are also nutritionists and some of us have had bowel problems ranging from colitis to constipation. Bowel cleansing is something we should all be doing once we are adults. At least twice a year.
I will be forever grateful to one of my friends who recommended bowel cleansing to me. I owe my health to it and him.
Do your research and discover the importance of bowel cleansing for yourself. I am sure you won’t regret it.
Am very sure this new knowledge I have gained from this review will not be a waste. I can’t believe that a facial eczema can be one of the signs of constipation. Well, we have different body reaction.
Most times , I usually eat vegetable because of its laxative property to clear my colon. It works but if care is not taken it can lead to pile. Now that I know how to prepare P&B shakes, I don’t think I should worry again. I will give it a trial.
Hi Namesake,
Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully to get the full benefit of the shakes. If it means bookmarking the post, do so for easy reference.
Tell me how you get on Stella…
All the best,
Stella
Honestly this is a very good post and it just occurred to me that cleansing my gut can be a very good way to help me with the occasional pains I feel in my stomach. I’m happy that you could add a video on how to make the shakes. I believe that the herbal cleansing is probably the best way for a total cleansing. There is a stall around here where I believe getting this herbs shouldn’t be a big problem. I won’t forget to take with an hour before my meal. Thanks!
Hi John,
I am glad you watched the video. Bit of an eye-opener, isn’t it? These P&B shakes are best taken on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Then wait an hour before eating.
Hopefully, you can manage this. Remember to drink plenty of water during the day as well.
Do tell me how you get on or if you need any help along the way.
Hi
I find it interesting about this homemade bowel cleanser but am unsure if it will work. I know that this can be a problem but I rather eat a healthy, balanced diet full of fibre, as the key is to get you going regularly. This can only be done via your diet and not through bowel cleansers. I wonder what would the result be for those who have bowel compaction, which can be harder to treat.
You said to take it at night, which sounds strange as you do not want to go to the toilet throughout the night. An interesting article but it is not for me.
Thanks
Antonio
Hi Antonio,
Everyone over the age of 10 has mucoid plaque because of the food they have eaten in the past. Even if you eat healthy now and have done for years, you will notice a big difference when you do this bowel cleanse.
I go to the toilet 3 times a day myself, but when I first started cleansing in 2006, I passed what I thought was a macaroni. I had not eaten any in years. Then I realised it was a worm! That was the only one I ever had…
I only do cleanses for 2 months at a time, twice a year. Normally, just like yourself, I eat a very fibre-rich, healthy diet.
We all live to learn and I hope that you will understand more as time goes on…
All the best.
Thanks for this great review. My friend has been battling with eczema and he has tried different kinds of drugs prescribed by his doctor and different online platforms but they seem to be futile. Or most times they clear and come back after a week. This method looks easy and effective. I hope to tell him about it so as to know if it would work. Thanks for this great review. It would go a long way to help my friend.
Hi Will,
I hope your friend can follow the steps as written. It will make a difference in results. I’m pleased you enjoyed reading this.
All the best!
I have a friend who takes a lot of fiber in her diet, drinks a lot of water and does regular workout exercises, but is still constipated. I wonder if her problem is really with the mucoid plaque in her colon and I don’t know if she actually has that. But this shake is probably worth a try. Hope it can help her. Thanks, Stella!
I’m sorry to hear about your friend…When you say drink a lot of water, is it up to 8-10 glasses a day?
I find that vegetable juices are better at impacted stool from our bodies. If she had 10 glasses of juice a day and included real apple juice to make them tasty, there would be a shift.
P&B shakes are just the icing on the cake…As long as she follows the instructions to the letter, she should be fine.
I think that the idea of being able to cleanse my bowels with a shake that I can personally make myself is a very good thing. The video that you dropped here for me is going to serve as a big help for me.to make it. I didn’t read your article on liver cleansing. I hope you can share a link where I can read that too because it seems this post and that one are quite related.
I’ve put the link for the Liver Flush Protocol in the first sentence of the first paragraph! Thanks for noting that.
The mixture for the shake is quite easy to make and should only take less than 5 minutes.
Hello there, it’s really good to care for oneself and some people have actually narrowed taking care of oneself to just eating well and dressing up for occasions where in truth it goes way beyond just that. Taking time to go for check up and like this article, cleaning one’s bowel is really underrated and it’s much easier to do with such shakes that are very much available for anyone. Cheers
Cleansing my bowel with gentle herbal cleanses really helped my skin recover from years of eczema flare ups. On Dr Natura site – the makers of Colonix – there used to be hundreds of testimonials with graphic pictures of mucoid plaque that came out of people’s bodies. All kinds of ailments were cured.
We as 21st century people, have left behind the knowledge of how to take care of ourselves. More’s the pity…
It’s very good that you’ve stated this article, a lot of times, people tend to do things the wrong way just because they don’t know and they don’t care to know how it is done, this can always result to great health danger. It’s good that cleansing the bowel makes liver flushing effective. Thanks for sharing the ingredients needed and how to go about it.
Thanks for commenting!
