Microbiome Facts: How Friendly Bacteria Benefits You

Microbiome is defined as bacteria that lives in and on our bodies.  To act as a defense against toxins and unfriendly bacteria we need to keep the friendly bacteria at optimum levels to remain in the best of health.  Microbiome is beneficial to our health and is made up from the food we eat and the people and surfaces we touch. Read on to discover how this friendly bacteria can benefit you…

Families sharing the same food, and surfaces will share similar microbiome.  Our microbiome makes up at least 90% of the cells that create us.  Only 10% of the cells in our body contain our DNA. A very surprising fact, don’t you think?

The microbes of friendly bacteria living in your gut are essential to survival.  They can also be detrimental to our health.  For example, if you eat bean soup with very hot chilli pepper (or habonero), you will have a runny stomach the next day.  A runny stomach is very dehydrating leaving you feeling weak due to frequent trips to the bathroom.

To remedy this, when you eat a tub of natural greek yoghurt, you ingest the friendly bacteria it contains.  They repopulate your gut, restoring it’s balance.  You then feel much better.

Microbiome Is Not Only In Your Gut

Microbiome also lives on your skin, with different strains of bacteria in stronger concentrations in it’s creases.  If you have a skin condition, the natural response is to take care of it by applying a cleanser or cream.  By doing this, you are contributing to the worsening of your condition.  Particularly if it is severe. If you are harsh with your skin or overload it with creams and cleansers, you simply upset the mictobiome balance of your skin and end up worse than before.

First find out your skin type, then use a suitable oil as a skin cleanser.  Even if you have dry skin.

Applying a few drops of either coconut oil, rosehip or argan oil on your skin will feed it, yet keep it clear from toxins.

UPDATE:  I am pleased to announce that I have discovered a company called Aleavia Skincare that specialises in enzymatic cleanses that contain prebiotics for eczema-prone skin.  Their products are natural and contain such ingredients as aloe vera, coconut oil and dead sea salts.

One of their family happened to come down with eczema, so they created this prebiotic skincare line for her.  Their products are quite affordable and so I highly recommend them for your use if you have  eczema or extremely dry skin.  They are called Aleavia Skincare and you can find their products on their site.

If you are going to cleanse your face and prefer to not use enzymatics, use pure mineral water, ionised acidic water or distilled. Followed by a few drops of oil suited to your skin type which could be:

Normal

Oily

Dry

Sensitive

Dry and Sensitive

Combination Skin

From experience, after colon cleansing and liver flushing, I have seen my skin go from dry and sensitive to completely normal skin.  All because I changed my diet, cleansed my body and also reset my biome using Synergy Worldwide Products which I will tell you more about further on…

Synergy Products made a great difference to the effectiveness of the first liver flush I did after using their Purify Kit.  The most dramatic change being in the texture of my skin changing from parched to normal overnight.

This may seem like an exaggeration, but please bear in mind that colon cleansing and liver flushing were the last few steps of a 2 year rejuvenation programme to restore my health. I had never used Synergy Products before, but realised they contributed to the success of the liver flush I did afterwards.

I have been colon cleansing and liver flushing since 2006, so am no stranger to their effects on skin health.  However, when I met a distributor at a Christian business exhibition and read a Synergy Purify Kit leaflet, I saw the benefits of using the products straight away.  Maybe because of the knowledge I already had about cleansing the body.

Though I had never heard of microbiome before, I knew about friendly gut bacteria and also leaky gut.  With further explanation about the benefits of resetting my microbiome using Synergy Purify Kit, I bought the products straight away.

That was in September 2017.  However, I did not open the box til almost 3 weeks later!  I thought that using First Cleanse and Cleanse Smart (not related to Synergy) was enough for me.  I used these products in August and September 2017.  They are herbal colon cleansers which were recommended me by my local health food shop.

I did not want to overdo the body cleansing, so hesitated to use the Purify Kit.  Anyway, I finally did use the week long kit and followed the instructions to the letter.  Except for using the protein powder which was included.  I tend to have a disliking of manufactured protein.

How I Restored My Skin Health

So what did I do to achieve normal skin? As mentioned in other posts, as my skin had deteriorated to the point where it was leaving heaps of flakes on the floor and was becoming infected especially on my face, I ate raw food from February 29th 2016 for 4 months.

6.   Daily glasses of vegetable juice and avocado smoothies without fruit played a major part of my lifestyle.  I even consumed 6 raw organic eggs a day as I needed plenty of protein to rebuild my skin. I also ate sprout salads with guacamole and plenty of half-ripe raw plantain to feel full up.

At the end of 4 months, I was reduced to 9.5 stone and had a wrinkled face, but was in good health.  To regain the smoothness of my skin, I reintroduced lightly roasted chicken or steamed oily fish to my meals.  I continued with sprouted bean avocado salads.

For the next 4-5 months after this, I introduced heavier cooked foods like yams, sweet potatoes and half-ripe plantain to regain the weight I had lost.  I also made lentil vegetable soups and brown rice.  This worked and I became 11.5 stone by December 2017.  However, what I needed to also do was exercise!  It is now September 2019 and I am yet to set up a good exercise routine.  It is coming soon!

Flashback to September 2017 when I was introduced to Synergy Worldwise Purify.Kit.  It comprised Protein Powder, Biome DTX, Biome Active and also Arginine.  The instructions were easy to stick to and meant drinking arginine at least 3 times a day and also the Biome DTX 4 times daily.

Because I was using First Cleanse and Cleanse Smart in August-September 2017, I did not take the Synergy Purify Kit til October.  The following week – Octoer 11, I performed a liver flush which did not bring forth any stones – only chaff.

Can You Believe What Happened Next?

When I looked in the mirror on waking the next day, I could not believe what I saw and felt.  My face was like a baby’s both in appearance and touch.  The large pores on the side of my nose had shrunk.  The whites’ of my eyes were white.  The wrinkles on my face had totally disappeared along with puffy eyes and slight eye bags.

My stomach lost 2 inches of its waist.  This must have been water weight though. Joint pains around my knees went.  And I had a ton of energy lasting up to 3 months.

I think the biggest observation I made is that the effects of the Purify Kit on my skin lasted for almost 2 years. All of my friends could not believe the difference.  Before, they thought I was going to have to live with the effects of eczema forever.

Though I have done colon cleansing and liver flushing before, it was obvious that the Synergy Products made a huge difference to their effect. Why?  Because my microbiome had been reset!

According to Synergy; microbes in your body are essential for survival.  However, they can also be detrimental to health.  The gut is where the body converts food to energy and it is a major frontline component of the immune system. The gut is connected to the central nervous system, and the brain, and can also influence mood.  You cannot talk about the gut or its importance without talking about the organisms that live there.

Gut flora has been linked to virtually every process in our body. Imbalances have been implicated in countless health issues, some being the deepest chronic health issues of our time.  Ones like obesity, diabetes, asthma, cancer, autism, arthritis.

Even Your Brain…

Research has discovered that our whole mental and emotional well being is determined by our microbiome.  Inflammation starts in the gut. Heart disease, diabetes, liver issues, joint pain, hormonal imbalances are all different ways we can experience inflammation.  Unfortunately, living in the modern world is not very friendly to our gut!

However, as I have experienced, the microbiome can accessed and modified. Each of us has a unique microbiome.  The microbes in our body are determined by what we are exposed to and these colonies are constantly in a flux.

Geography, health status, stress, diet, age, gender and everything you touch all affect the composition of your microbiome.

75% of your Microbiome lives in your intestines which is why the top scientists at Synergy Worldwide have designed innovative products  to target the gut microbiome.

I hope you can see how very important resetting your microbiome is.  It is the key to regaining tip top health.  However, greater results are seen when combined with bowel cleansing and liver flushing.

You only need to do this one to two times a year to stay in tip top condition.  If you are trying to reverse the effects of disease in your body, a change in diet is crucial too.  You would also need to do plenty of vegetable juicing or drink juiced blends to repair your body faster.

Remember it is not the food that heals you.  Rather you are just giving your body the correct nutrients to repair itself.  On their own, they do no good.  However, just like you need oil for a car to move, you need the appropriate food nutrients in plentiful amounts to restore any damage that might have accumulated over time.

This works even if you are in your 60s or even 90s.  All the methods I mentioned are gentle and it is only the liver flushing that requires the bowel cleansing to be carried out prior to you doing a liver flush.  You are getting rid of parasites and if you do a liver flush, parasites give a die-off effect and can cause you to run a fever, which you do NOT want!

I have seen something like this somewhere where they usually talk about friendly bacteria and how they can actually help our bowels especially with digestion and all that. But there are some bacteria that are really bad for us too. All in all, your post is good with all the explanation that you shared about bacteria.

    • Stella says:

I did mention about the bad bacteria too.  The difference is getting the correct balance and ratio of good bacteria to bad.  We can never fully hide from getting bad bacteria as it  is on the surfaces of everything we touch.  It can even be airborne.

Good to see how beneficial this healthy microbiome is. Honestly, it makes a lot of sense considering all that there is here. I really like it all and exactly the reason that they are really helpful in keeping the skin balanced and ensuring we stay ahead of situations at all time. Thank you for sharing here

    • Stella says:

It’s important to keep our microbiome intact.  We go through most of our lives trying to get rid of it on our bodies with deoderants, shaving foam, hair waxing, chemicals in perfume, aftershave and creams, lotions and potions.

I’m glad you enjoyed reading this.

The first time I heard about the benefits of bacteria to human health, It was so funny that I couldn’t stop laughing, what came to my mind was how could something we refer to as dangerous be of any good to the health. Thanks for shedding more light on this, I now understand clearly how it can benefit us.

    • Stella says:

Bacteria should be separated into 2 main groups – friendly and unfriendly.  I’m glad you found it funny when you first heard about the benefits of bacteria.  I’m glad to be of assistance in helping you understand more about this topic.

There are so many things that are unknown to man. We have sometimes on our own, because of the lack of knowledge, used some kind of substance that could kill these bacteria that are useful to us.

I have heard about bacteria helping for digestion and I really hope that we are careful with what we take into the body.

    • Stella says:

Yes, some bacteria is good and some bad…What we need to be careful of is maintaining a healthy balance of good to bad bacteria. In this modern world we live in, we can’t hide ourselves from the bad bacteria – it is all around us in the polluted city air.

I have read about our gut being important before but I didn’t realize how important. It seems you have been on a special journey and really found some great methods to achieve better all over health. I am constantly amazed at how what we eat and drink can affect our bodies. You give some great advice about timing and products which can cleanse your liver that I will be using.

    Thanks for a helpful article.

    • Stella says:

Yes, I didn’t know about microbiome either until I found a company that specialises in resetting our gut bacteria (the microbiome).  They also had a lot of reading material that explained the relation between our friendly bacteria and moods, plus how important it is to keep our microbiome ‘gardens’ happy.

I’m glad you enjoyed reading this article.

Who would’ve thought that 90% of the cells that make us up are these little friendly bacteria hanging out in and on our bodies? The emphasis on the balance of friendly bacteria for both gut and skin health is enlightening. I love all the natural ingredients like aloe vera, coconut oil, and dead sea salts in Aleavia Skincare’s products.

Do you have a skincare routine that takes your microbiome into account, considering the importance of using suitable oils and avoiding harsh cleansers?

    • admin says:

My skincare routine is very simple. Twice a week, I have a 20-minute soak in lukewarm water in the bath.  Put either Dead Sea Salts, Moor Mud or Clay in the bath water.  Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil.

After the bath, apply olive oil to damp skin and massage in. I apply Aloe vera gelly to eczema patches followed by Aloe Propolis Creme, then Shea Butter.

Then I dress up.  I don’t use cosmetics on my face as it’s sensitive.  Only olive oil.  I also put olive oil in my hair. After spraying lightly with water.

And that’s it!  I don’t let my eczema patches get dry.  I moisturise at least 3 times a day with the Aloe Vera Gelly and Propolis Creme and Shea butter.

    Hi Stella:

Thank you for providing such thorough and useful information about microbiome and the benefits of friendly bacteria. Your journey is quite an interesting and empowering one.

Please clarify the following statement you made at the end of your article, “You are getting rid of parasites and if you do a liver flush, parasites give a die-off effect and can cause you to run a fever, which you do NOT want!”

Thank you for sharing your journey and valuable information.

      Hi Veron,

A liver flush is meant to be done after a bowel cleanse.  Once you do a bowel cleanse the parasites will leave and the liver will be less compromised.  Everyone has parasites and they cause all kinds of diseases and ailments in the body.

However, once you prepare your body properly – then a liver flush will be a walk in the park.  I’ve set out the steps for a liver flush in my post titled Liver Flush Protocol…

Hi, this is super fascinating. I heard about microbiome but I always thought it was just in the gut. I ha e also heard that “you are what you eat” in that the physical tissues of our body the building blocks are from the foods you eat.

No wonder alchohol is so bad for people. Not to mention eating junk food. It’s interesting to see how food affects people. Have a good day.

    • admin says:

It’s funny that when we’re younger we only eat food because we like the taste of it.  It’s only when we turn to food as medicine that we see the greater benefit of healthy eating.

      Thanks for leaving a comment.

wow, I thought I already knew a thing about our human microbiome in the gut, as I had consultations before with a microbiome orthomolecular doctor, who gave me all kinds of pills to restore it. That helped a bit, but I didn’t know that I could even have my skin help out with my microbiome, thanks for that! Does synergy also have shampoos that work with skincare or shower gels?

    • admin says:

Synergy don’t have shower gels or shampoos but they do have skincare sets like eye cream and nourishing skin oils to use.  You can check out their site at Synergy Worldwide Products

Hey a fascinating post you have created here!
It was certainly interesting to read about how these microbiome aren’t just residing in our guts, but working hard on our skins as well as other parts of our bodies too! I always thought they lived in our guts anyways it was cool knowing these facts! It is great reading of your personal experiences as well!

Thankyou and have a great day!
