Stop Itching Eczema – Or It Spreads!

Eczema doesn’t seem like a threat at first.  A little itch here and there can lead to an itching frenzy by the end of a few days if you do not halt it in its tracks.  If you do not stop itching it, eczema spreads and can end up covering a large area of your body.

Here are several ways to stop an itch:

  1. Apply a flannel soaked in cold water and just put it on the skin.  You will feel cooler instantly
  2. Apply clay paste – simply mix green clay powder with oil and water until you have a slightly thick paste.  Apply to patches.  This is very soothing and heals scars and infections very fast.
  3. If you can and have time – do not go out for 3 days and have Dead Sea Salt baths every day for 3 days in the evenings.  Put olive oil and oatmeal  in the bath also.  When you have soaked for 30 minutes, apply shea butter mixed with olive oil onto your skin.  Then put on a light nightie and hop into a cool bed without a duvet – just cotton sheets.
  4. If the itch is so crazy and you can’t stop itching – this is a last resort – go raw vegan.  Make delicious salads out of vegetables you like and the itch will stop by the end of the day.  It definitely works, but I understand that not everyone can do this.

  5. Drink avocado smoothies – at least 4 cups a day.  Put plenty of cucumber in your blends.  At least 2.  Cucumbers cool the blood.
  6. Stop eating anything sweet – whether fruit, sugary food or drinks.  You will find your skin gets calmer.
  7. Apply aloe vera gelly to your skin. Spread it generously. Very cooling this is!

Once your skin is getting better, you will want to prevent eczema happening again.

This is where bowel cleansing and liver flushes come in.  As I have mentioned before, always bowel cleanse before liver flushing.

Bowel cleansing herbs exist and are effective yet gentle.  The only reason why you need to do these at least twice a year to cleanse the body of parasites, toxins from food and the chemicals we put on and in our bodies. Whether it is makeup, perfume or even the detergent you wash your clothes with, choose products that are gentle and also that contain very few ingredients.

As everyone’s skin biome (garden of beneficial bacteria living on skin) is slightly different, you will have to try one product or oil at a time to see whether it suits your skin.  Remember – always do a skin test first on a patch of skin that is eczema free.

When you find the right oil, stick to it as chopping and changing confuses your skin and could cause it to react.

Amoils Homeopathic Skincare range is highly recommended for eczema prone skin.  It is suitable for all ages and is very gentle.

They produce a homeopathic skin oil that is affordable, yet effective.

Also, your skin changes texture as you grow older depending largely on how you have cared for it over the years.I   If well nourished with a simple diet, you will find you will age gracefully.  On the other hand yo-yo diets, stress and late nights all take its toil on the skin – ageing it faster.  And we all know scratching for long periods of time doesn’t help!

Is bowel cleansing safe for children?

From 12 years upwards, yes.

For younger children, you may have to use probiotics to feed their gut with good bacteria.  Stopping sugary food and drinks also helps a great deal.  Putting 5 evening primrose capsules  into their food also oils the skin from within.

First Cleanse is safe for children over 12.

Eating fermented food is also a way to feed your children’s gut with good bacteria. Sauerkraut – fermented cabbage is full of friendly stuff!

You can give babies aloe vera juice to drink.  It is not sweet but then you can mix it with something bland like cucumber juice to take the edge off the bitterness.

Personally, I did not know how to treat my son’s really flaky eczema when he was a baby. I resorted to the net an found about Neocate – a milk free baby formula.  His eczema which was from head to foot, but not infected, cleared up in 3 weeks.

He is now 10 and is still clear…Because he now eats almost anything,  I have to keep an eye out to prevent an imminent flare up.  And you will too – once they grow up and out of eczema , if your children start eating fast food and all types of sugary food – the eczema returns.  I am living proof of that.

SO BE WARNED!

On a lighter note, once your skin and your family is clear of eczema, you will all feel really relieved and free.  You will have  new zest for life and also become interested in different tastes of juices, smoothies and various meals you can make at home.  Even home made skin balms and hair shampoos!

If Eczema is On Your Scalp…

You  can use aloe vera gelly mixed with oil to moisturise it.  I noticed that Forever Living Aloe Shampoo and also Conditioner helped my scalp eczema a lot.  The dandruff disappeared and my hair grew back.  Phew!  I now have a full head of hair.

You may have to stop using store bought shampoos and conditioners as they contain all sorts of chemicals which can strip your hair and scalp of its natural oils and cause your head to get really itchy.

Forever Living Products are very kind to skin and contain stabilised aloe vera that acts as if it is fresh from the plant.  There are no harsh chemicals in it.  It is totally organic and safe to use on yourself and your family members.

These are some great tips to stop an itch. My son, who’s 4 suffers from eczema and has done since 3 months old. I guess using clay paste on him wouldn’t work as he doesn’t stay still!

I haven’t hear of bowel cleansing and liver flushes for eczema before. Could you tell me how this can help with eczema? Also, what did you use on your son’s skin to help with his eczema? Thanks

    • Stella says:

      Hi Teresa,

The tips I gave have all been used by myself.  You are meant to put on the clay paste while your son is in the bath as it is messy.  It’ okay for him to roll in it!

As for my son, he was intolerant to the lactose in the formula he was on.  So I searched on the net for an alternative and found Neocate baby formula especially made for children who have eczema due to being intolerant to milk protein.  As I didn’t know much about natural creams, I put aloe gelly mixed with shea butter or olive oil on his skin.

I also made oatmeal and dead sea salt baths to wash him with.  NO SOAP.  I was given Oilatum oil to put in the bath as well.

It was the Neocate that made the biggest difference and his skin cleared up in 3 weeks of using it.

8 years later and his skin is still clear.

      Hope this helps Teresa!

PS. Please read this post on Liver Flush Protocol.  It explains all you need to know about Liver flushing and bowel cleansing. https://cleareczemanaturally.c

      All the best, Stella

My son used to have eczema when he was born. Fortunately it went away. We always had to use a prescribed cream for him and tried those eczema bath powders from aveeno.

These tips seems like they would’ve been much more helpful.

I do have niece who has eczema as well and she’s just turning 1 year old.

Do you think some of these tips could be applied to infants?

    • Stella says:

      Hi Tobin,

Yes, some of these tips can be applied to infants.  One thing is to cut out sugary food and drinks as it causes inflammation and candida overgrowth.

Make green avocado smoothies with a touch of real apple juice (home made) and 3 drops of lemon juice to keep the smoothie fresh.

As she is too young for a bowel cleanse, all you need to do is give her nutritious home made soups and stews.  Fermented food as well. As we live in a fast paced world, it is a good idea to cook food for the day in batches.  That means, cook family lunch for the whole day and also dinner.  Leave desserts on the supermarket shelf until her skin clears.

Let your niece’s parents eat the same nutritious food with her to inspire her to copy them.

I will dedicate some pages to baby eczema as you are the second person who has asked me to point them in the right direction today.  It is a pleasure to be of service to you Tobin.

Thanks for reading and enjoying these tips.

    Hi Stella
Thanks so much for sharing this post as this is something that most of us have to deal with.
Now dealing with eczema can be a pain as you struggle to find what works and what does not.

Recently after an eczema attack, I bought a cream by Widmer( a Swiss company) I have never known myself to have allergies to anything but for the first time ever, I had an allergy reaction and my body swelled up where I had applied the cream,I could deal with the swelling but the scratching was terrible.

You mention using Aloe vera and I find it incredible that something as simple as Aloe vera can help fight Eczema yet we rush to buy expensive store-bought products that sometimes do just more harm.

    • Stella says:

      Hi Roamy,

Agreed eczema is very unsightly and can also be a pain when it gets out of control.  Aloe vera is useful and more natural for dealing with itchy skin than creams and lotions.

Drinking cucumber juice blended with aloe vera can cool you down as well.  If you can find fresh aloe leaves, all you need are 3 and they will last you for at least a week depending on how widespread the eczema is.

I hope you are fully recovered by the time you read my reply.

      All the best!

    Hey Stella!

I was searching around, and I saw your article. These are some great ways to stop an itch. Haven’t tried most of these methods, but since you have tried it on your self, I will definitely try it. Itch is something I have a lot and most likely more people have. Great article!

    • Stella says:

Hi Oystein, just cut the sugary drinks and food and watch your skin  calm down…

Something as little as that makes a BiG difference!  And yes, I have used all the methods described in my articles…

  5. Daniel says:

I am really glad that I have read this topic. I had this problem with eszema and I was really disappointed because my face was terrible looking. I saw in the comment below that you recommend cucumber juice with aloe vera, is it safe to put it on the face? I mean can it provoke some allergy?

    • Stella says:

Cucumber and aloe vera is meant to be drunk.  It is very tasty with apple in it.  Make sure to blend it all with a sturdy blender. You will need to drink at least 3 cups a day before you see a difference in your face.

It is extremely rare for someone to be allergic to cucumber!

  6. Danny says:

Being itchy is such a horrible feeling, and helpless not to mention. I’ve never had eczema, but it sounds like a miserable thing to have. I’ve never read an article like yours in describing all of these methods of how to take care of itchiness, but I found it very informative and helpful. Great article!

    • Stella says:

Thanks Danny, I hope you never experience eczema.

The slight itch now and then is bearable, but widespread eczema is painful even.  We live to learn!

  7. Strahinja says:

I had a big problem with this when I was a child. It was just not way I could stop scratching my skin and my conditions just kept growing. After managing to control myself, I saw a big improvement in my overall health. I solved this issue by taking raw food and having special baths with special salts.

This was of course in combination with my medications and skin creams specially developed to stop irritaion.

    • Stella says:

Good for you!  Unfortunately for me, the steriods and light therapy did not work so I had to research and find natural methods that did.

The main thing is that we are both better!
